Response to Recent Protests

First Amendment Rights

Iowa State University supports the First Amendment rights of students, faculty, staff, and members of the community to peacefully protest on campus. Groups organizing a demonstration on campus are expected to follow all university policies. Anyone found in violation of policy or state or federal law will be held accountable.

Iowa State University police and university leaders are monitoring the campus climate as well as local and national events. This includes planning for the university’s commencement ceremonies to support a safe environment for our graduates, families, and guests.

We look forward to commencement and the opportunity to celebrate this important milestone for our students.
