Cara Heiden, Retired Co-President of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage


Cara Heiden is a retired co-president of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, a Wells Fargo company and the nation's largest provider of residential mortgages. She focused on leading WFHM to continually achieve outstanding financial goals and nationally promoting the benefits of homeownership. She rallied employees to fulfill the company’s promise to customers and clients: to work together to reach customer’s personal and financial goals through homeownership, and being the client’s number one partner to help build their business.

Asked to testify before the U.S. House of Representatives and address numerous prestigious forums on responsible lending and servicing, Heiden became a national advocate of making sure consumers are treated fairly throughout the mortgage industry.

Heiden was frequently recognized in U.S. Banker magazine’s “25 Most Powerful Women in Banking.”Before Heiden's 30 year career with Wells Fargo, she was a certified public accountant for three years with the accounting firm of Ernst & Young.

She devotes time to giving back to the community. A member since 1994 and past chair of the Ivy College of Business Dean’s Executive Advisory Council, Heiden has also served on numerous boards and capital campaigns such as chair of the board and 2007 annual campaign chair for the United Way of Central Iowa, chair of the board of Iowa State University Foundation, co-chair of Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity’s capital campaign, chair of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, and tri-chair of Capital Crossroads, a regional economic development and quality of life multi-year strategic plan, and many more.

Cara is an Iowa State University Alumni; she was awared a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Administration in 1978.
